Let’s talk about my favorite sunscreen recommendations for the face + body! Now that it’s summertime, it is more important than ever that we are protecting our skin and wearing sunscreen anytime we are outside. It is even more critical that the sunscreens we use are FREE FROM oxybenzone and octinoxate – both are extremely harmful to our reefs and ourselves. It is best that our sunscreens DO INCLUDE zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide (learn more about this here). See below for a list of my favorite reef and body safe sunscreen recommendations! 🙂
FACE
- FAB weightless mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide – has a sheer tint too, great for under makeup (code VIVIANE15)
- Tula protect and glow is reef safe and made free from oxybenzone and octinoxate (code VIVIANEAUDI)
- Sunbaked a 100% mineral-based broad-spectrum sunscreen- it is also reef safe (code VIV15)
- Native Mineral Sunscreen made from zinc oxide and free from oxybenzone and octinoxate,
- Supergoop a lot of recommendations for supergroup PLAY! They also have a whole line dedicated to 100% mineral sunscreens.
- BeautyCounter mineral sunscreen SPF 30 + tinted mineral sunscreen too
- ELTA MD contains hyaluronic acid and zinc as well to help nourish the skin
- Alba Botanica is reef safe mineral sunscreen and fragrance free
BODY
- Salt and Stone Natural Mineral sunscreen is made from rosehip and avocado oil! Free from oxybenzone and reef safe
- Sun Bum Mineral sunscreen is highly recommended! All of their products are free from oxybenzone! Check out their website to read more + check all of their products (so many)
- COOLA I would personally probably pick the mineral body sunscreen SPF 30. They have an amazing variety and love how they break everything down- check out their website as well!
- BeautyCounter mineral sunscreen SPF 30 + tinted mineral sunscreen too
- Blue Lizard is an Australian brand and contains zinc oxide and is free of any irritators such as fragrances and parabens
- Pacifica is also sold at target. A ton of options, but they are all 100% vegan and cruelty free. ** a lot of fragrance with these, so if you’re avoiding that, I’d recommend another brand
- Neutrogena specifically “SHEER ZINC” ** please note ** that the “ultra sheer” (which was also highly recommended) does contain non-reef safe ingredients. So please try your best to purchase their SHEER zinc which is just composed of zinc oxide aka reef safe & clean!!!
- Alba Botanica is reef safe mineral sunscreen and fragrance free
- Think Sport/ Think Baby is safe and great but mainly SPF 50 (which is great!)
