Easy + Authentic Lebanese Beef Kafta Recipe

If you are a lover of kebabs, meatballs, and hamburgers or just looking for a hearty and protein packed meal – my dad’s authentic Kafta recipe is for you! Kafta is a Lebanese dish made from ground beef, lamb, or chicken with a blend of traditional herbs. It takes roughly 30 minutes to make from start to finish with limited ingredients required. This pairs extremely well with my dad’s authentic greek salad and rice recipe and is the perfect staple to add to your weekly rotation. See below for a full breakdown of the ingredients and cooking instructions.

Kafta has always been a staple in my home and I hope it can now become one in your own โ™ก

  • 90/10% ground beef is recommended (we sometimes use 93/7%)
  • Parsley
  • Red or yellow onion & nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp 7 spice – you can purchase this as a seasoning, but it usually consists of allspice, coriander, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, cumin, and nutmeg
  • Roughly chop parsley
  • Roughly cube onion
  • Put parsley and onion in the food processor and finely chop
  • In a bowl add the ground beef + 2 tbsp 7-spice + 1 tbsp salt
  • Add in the finely chopped parsley and onion into the bowl
Remove iewelry or wear gloves and with clean hands mix everything together! Make sure it’s MIXED WELL
  • Once mixed thoroughly, grab a skewer of some sort (I use my handy knife sharpener) and grab a good amount of meat and shape around the skewer * NOTE you don’t want them to be super thick *
  • You can cook on the grill, stovetop with olive oil, or in the oven! We generally cook them in the oven at 350 degrees. For timing, it’s usually a guessing game but for our oven, we found the sweet spot is 12 minutes on one side and about 7-8 minutes on the other. Keep a close eye on them as you don’t want them to be super dry!
  • I love to serve these with greek salad and pomegranate molasses!
